Jackets Host Pirates for Homecoming

On homecoming night in Jesup, the Yellow Jackets well welcome in an old rival in the Brunswick Pirates for a showdown with major playoff implications.  With a Wayne County win, the Jackets can just about assure themselves of a top 3 spot in the subregion.  With a Brunswick win, the Pirates can stay in the race for a share of the region title as well as go a long way towards locking up a top three spot as well.  The Pirates appear to have found something with Willie Bolden taking over at quarterback as they have moved the ball much better and put up 30 points last week on a pretty good Liberty defense.  The Jackets are coming into their own, especially on defense, and have won back to back games on the road against undefeated teams.  There are some questions as to who will be healthy at running back on Friday and I suppose we'll find out once the game starts as to who can carry the ball.  Brunswick matches up well defensively with the Jackets as the Pirates sport a lot of speed in the secondary which should help them run with the Jacket receivers who have been getting open this year with regularity.  If Wayne can find a way to stay balanced on offense and not turn the ball over, it should be a good night.  If they let the Pirates have a short field with turnovers and give their offense a chance to get going, it could be tough.  With this week being a homecoming game, that should have the Pirates fired up to play and feeling a little slighted in being someones homecoming opponent.  Be there early and stay the whole time as the Jackets look to stay in the hunt for the number one seed in the south subregion of 2-AAAA.
